MAGPIE DIARIES (Dashville) + SUICIDE SWANS (Bris) @ Django
Jun 20 all-day

mp7pm doors, 8pm show

Magpie Johnston is a unique fella. Born and bred to be the Dashville man, he grew up on the same rural property where he now hosts some of the best weekend outdoor parties Australia has to offer. Generally consumed by festival creation and the “running of the project”, it was the desire to play music that started it all.

Originally Magpie Diaries was a performance concept where Magpie set out to compile and perform all his random writings amongst various books and scrap paper. The songs are old soul, unique and somewhat timeless, some are new, some are about 18 years old. One thing is for sure though, a catalogue of music has begun that will appeal to anyone who enjoys laid back music from the heart.

Open the gates & stand clear Suicide Swans are heading to town. Through constant live shows they display the ragged glory and swagger of rock, laid back country & dashes of pop that has seen the band grow into the live force they term cosmic country. Their live sound includes waves of keys, textures & a new found penchant for experimentation, tossing in a mix of country, rock and a hint of pop.

BOB EVANS (JEBEDIAH)
Aug 10 all-day

Bob Evans.ITTN.presspic (1)7pm doors, 9pm show

Bob Evans, the ARIA winning alter ego of Jebediah frontman Kevin Mitchell is coming back to Camelot! Gracing the Australian music scene for more than two decades, Mitchell is a self-confessed romantic who has written some of the country’s most beloved songs. Under the alias of Bob Evans, Mitchell has released five albums, all of which showcase the versatility and skill of this talented songsmith. Gentle, acoustic melodies prevail, enveloping the classic folk storytelling and strong emotional pull that characterises Mitchells’ substantial body of work.

A note from Bob:

It is with great excitement that I can announce my “Into the Night” solo tour travelling around Australia in August and September of 2019!

Since releasing my compilation album “Full Circle” last year, I have had a wonderful time playing shows in a trio with piano and violin, with a 5 piece band as well as on my lonesome with my acoustic guitar, playing and celebrating something that started 16 years and 5 studio albums ago back in a little suburban sun room in 2003.  It has been important to me to wrap up the past, reflect a little, enjoy it and then move forward on to something new.
But now I feel like it is time for me to disappear for a while.

There will be more music, I can assure you of that.  I am always writing and I am looking forward to road testing some new material over the course of this run of shows.
However, after this little rendezvous I shall, like the shadowy man of mystery I am, be disappearing “in to the night” and you won’t be seeing or hearing from me again until I have something brand new and super exciting to offer.

So I do sincerely hope you can join me for this closing of a chapter, this turning of a page, this step in to the beyond.

I shall be playing songs old and new and taking requests.  I’d love the chance to say thank you and to say to you my most heartfelt, not “bye” but “see you in the future”.

DRAGON
Oct 11 all-day

DRAGON 24A

7pm doors, 9pm show

Dragon are back, fronted by the legendary kiwi singer Mark Williams. This version of Dragon rocks its way through a long list of iconic songs that are part of the national estate.

Bass player, Todd Hunter has reformed the band after a much needed break of 10 years. Todd and Mark are joined by Canadian guitar slinger, Bruce Reid and drum wizard Pete Drummond.

The band is known for anthems like April Sun In Cuba, Are You Old Enough, Rain, Speak No Evil, Young Years, This Time, Sunshine, Celebrate and Dreams of Ordinary Men. Todd and Marc Hunter started the band in 1973 and Dragon sold over 2 million records over 30 years.

The current live show evolves from an intimate acoustic beginning to a spirited, electric, crowd rousing finale. Mark Williams sings each song in a way that is familiar to the audience but completely his own and strong playing and sublime vocal harmonies have the crowd singing along as if everyone on the room is in the band. Dragon manages to reframe 30 years of Australian musical history into one coherent picture and do justice to a great collection of timeless songs.
