ROB SNARSKI ALBUM LAUNCH (THE BLACKEYED SUSANS)
May 10 all-day

ROB 20197pm doors, 9pm show

Since the release of Snarski’s acclaimed debut solo album “Wounded Bird” there’s been an album of cover songs (by request | recorded on an iphone)~ “Low Fidelity”, then the return to his beloved band The Blackeyed Susans for the album “Close Your Eyes and See” …and in-between a set of short whimsical, music and family related tales within his sweet memoir “You’re Not Rob Snarski ~ Crumbs from the Cake”.

So it makes perfect sense “Sparrow & Swan” (his second solo album) sees a gravitational pull towards the narrative, a change in direction and the song writing process. Conversation turns into song, late night tales become tunes ~ there are stories here from Brisbane cab drivers, girls from Belfast ‘74 in search of Van Morrison, football players and their protégés, relationships sparked in TABs, sightings of Robert Mitchum at Mitcham Station, a sailor in search of Helsinki …and the weather ~ there’s always the weather, the extremities ~ the sun burning a hole in the sky or snow falling upon ancient ice …and birds, what’s with the birds?

The musical palette lies somewhere between Havana and Helsinki ~ think a Cuban cigar with a licorice ice cream.

Tickets go on sale 9am, Wed 13 Feb.

RICK PRICE @ Django
May 23 all-day

Rick-Price 1a7pm doors, 8pm show

Rick Price returns to Django @ Camelot for a rare intimate show.

“Price’s voice is beautifully melodic. The years since his hits ‘Heaven Knows’ and ‘Not A Day Goes By’, have given his tone greater maturity and lushness while retaining a soaring boyishness. He offers these songs with a fresh touch, they lilt and drift through the audience like saccharine kisses.” – The Music

“When I think of the very best that the Australian music industry has to offer, Rick Price and his debut album are always at the top of my list. While it has been over 25 years since I was first exposed to this exceptional album, I can say with complete honesty that it feels as fresh as the day it was released.” Mark Greentree Subject Sounds

“Whether you’re a seasoned Rick Price attendee or seeing him for the first time, Rick’s honest banter and engaging stage presence has you leaving his gig feeling like you’ve’ know him for years. When it comes to Australian male vocalists and songwriters, Rick Price deserves to be regarded among the very best.” – The Rockpit
