The Album peaked at #3 in Australia and spent 23 weeks in the ARIA Top 40 charts. The second single and title track ‘Heaven Knows’ charted across Europe and Asia and won the APRA ‘Song Of The Year’ Award.

“Price’s voice is beautifully melodic. The years since his hits ‘Heaven Knows’ and ‘Not A Day Goes By’, have given his tone greater maturity and lushness while retaining a soaring boyishness. He offers these songs with a fresh touch, they lilt and drift through the audience like saccharine kisses.” – The Music

THE PUNCH SESSIONS with PAULA PUNCH, JASON WALKER, LISA SCHOUW & BLEEDING GUMS MURPHY @ Django
Oct 14 all-day

punch7pm doors, 8pm show

The Punch Sessions was created by Phil Punch of Electric Avenue Studios, and Paula Punch with their music friends, to showcase local singer-songwriters and musicians for an evening of beautiful tunes and entertainment. This session includes:

Paula Punch has recently returned from touring the Californian West Coast and Nashville! The band includes Robin Gist on guitars, and Marko Simec ( Waiting for Guiness, Soul Movers and Rufino and the Coconuts) on keyboards plus other friends. Her music is hard to define – but indie folk is probably closest.

Jason Walker is well known in the live alt-country music scene with his deep and distinctive voice, and his strikingly beautiful pedal steel guitar and mandolin.

Lisa Schouw, an ARIA nominated Australian singer/songwriter, interprets an intoxicating blend of songs from the distant past and the near future that speak of the tender borderlands that lie between lovers meeting for the first or last time.  Moving effortlessly from pop to jazz to folk and beyond Schouw leaves her audience wondering, “where the hell that voice was coming from. There was a quality to it that was sublime” (Ella James, 2UE).

Bleeding Gums Murphy like mashing up songs and sticking them back together, paper-mache style! This duo, with Reuben Ryan and Elliot Peck, have been entertaining local audiences with their unique fun style of music.

©Martin Philbey Tex Perkins - The Beasts of Bourbon 15th February 2007 Melbourne - Australia All Rights Reserved

7pm doors, 8pm show

Tex Perkins has played a key role in Australian music It’s understandably difficult to pull together a coherent picture of a man whose career has taken in everything from the groundbreaking experimental punktonica of Sydney mid-80s noiseniks Thug to the lilting, dark country of his recent material with the Dark Horses.

From the hard edged pub rock of the Beasts Of Bourbon’s, a snarling slice of filthy pub rock to the evocative soundscapes of The Cruel Sea.. Then there’s the Tex, Don & Charlie albums, which saw Perkins joining forces with the legendary Don Walker, Cold Chisel’s pianist and master songwriter and son of the Clarence Valley, and Charlie Owen, previously Australia’s best kept musical secret.

Now is Tex’s exciting new (and long over due) collaboration with Matt Walker (a great artist in his own right) for duo shows. It’s a blues swamp-groove kinda thing that’s a little reminiscent of some of the things in Tex’s back catalogue. Many new originals inhabit the setlist, but see them now while they still have to flesh out the set with a few Cruel Sea covers! “Tex has the swagger, presence and indomitable attitude that comes from years of fronting some of Australia’s most intense and spirited rock’n’roll bands.

THE SICARIOS: TOM PETTY BIRTHDAY PARTY featuring DAVE WARNER, PERRY KEYES & BRETT MYERS @ Django
Oct 20 all-day

The SICARIOS will be focusing on the late Tom Petty’s music, with special guests:
DAVE WARNER (Just a Suburban Boy)
PERRY KEYES (One of the country’s greatest songwriters)
BRETT MYERS (guitarist Died Pretty)

“The SICARIOS excel at something that few other bands have been able to truly nail. They take classics from three heavyweights and not only do they honour the music completely – which they do with rich harmonies, steely guitar riffs and rhythms, and total cohesion – drummer and frontman Lloyd G, manages to inject entirely new layers of meaning and significance to the music.

By sharing his relationship to these seminal tunes, Lloyd’s reverence and respect for the music that shaped him as an inquisitive young man from Burma growing up in Australia, further elevates the music. And that’s not even to say how he perfectly captures the vocal timbres of Fogerty, Petty and Young.

Don’t be fooled into thinking The SICARIOS are just another run of the mill tribute show. This band will have you captivated from start to finish, and you truly won’t want the show to end!

CAROLE KINGS TAPESTRY: THE CONCERT
Oct 25 all-day

Tapestry is the second album recorded by American singer-songwriter Carole King. It was released in 1971 and is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide; it received four Grammy Awards in 1972, including Album of the Year.

The first double sided single from the album, “It’s Too Late b/w I Feel the Earth Move”, spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2003, Tapestry was ranked number 36 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

King wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album, several of which had already been hits for other artists such as Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and The Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” (in 1960). Carole King’s Tapestry The Concert performs this quintessential Carole King album LIVE in a sophisticated, “true to the original sound” format.

King also wrote numerous hits for other artists, hits such as: The Loco-Motion (Little Eva/Kylie Minogue), I’m Into Something Good (Herman’s Hermits/Marianne Faithful), Pleasant Valley Sunday (The Monkees) and You’ve Got A Friend (James Taylor). As a lead up to the performance of Tapestry, the album, these songs plus others are presented in a 45 minute set performed live by The Fabulous Nickettes.

A NIGHT OF CREAM & HENDRIX @ Django
Oct 26 all-day

cream hendrix7pm doors, 9pm show

Join Drey Rollan and crew for a musical experience that cuts right to the heart of where psychedelic blues-rock guitar began. Life in London was bustling in the swinging 60’s, with the explosion of the British invasion hitting the world over.

Whilst the Beatles were conquering America, there was another sound commanding attention, three dynamic musicians from the London Blues and Jazz scene would form the first power trio called Cream. Featuring Eric Clapton a guitar god, Bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker, this super group would create the Blues Rock genre. Together Cream crafted four incredible albums within a two year a period. Hits such as I feel free, sunshine of your love, White Room and Crossroads.

This sound became iconic when the most talked about guitarist of all time Jimi Hendrix came on to the scene taking the sound to supernatural heights. The American landed in London formed the Jimi Hendrix experience with bassist Noel Redding and Drummer Mitch Mitchell. This would be a power group with another short career due to Jimi’s tragic death in 1970. In the space of two years this power trio created three massive albums, with monster hits like Hey Joe, purple Haze, Foxy Lady and Voodoo Child.

The Cream and Hendrix Tribute show has melded together some of the Cream and Hendrix classics, to transport you back to where music became colours that lit up the room.

Featuring: Drey Rollan on Guitar; Scott Leishman on Bass; Antero Ceschin on Drums; and special vocalists Bobbie Green & Moses York!

Oct 27 all-day

suzie snakepit motown7pm doors, 9pm show

Suzy And the Snakepit pay tribute to the Motown tunes that everywhere, around the world, get people dancing in the street. In the 1960s in Detroit, Motown found the perfect formula for pop: catchy, clever songwriting, great singers, and deeply danceable grooves. The musicians that Berry Gordy assembled in Motown’s studio, the Snakepit, also had an enormous influence on rock & roll – Motown tunes have been covered by everyone from The Rolling Stones to The Jam to Motorhead.

Suzy And The Snakepit play a set that revolves around the best of Hitsville USA, from the effervescent hits that you’d have to be a grouch not to love, like Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ or The Temptations’ ‘Ain’t Too Proud To Beg’ but also includes some treasured deep cuts from the era. Based around the soulful vocals of Suzy G, and featuring a crack backing band including musicians who’ve played with Sydney indie bands like Pel Mel, Perry Keyes, Fallon Cush, Lazy Susan, and Eva Trout, Suzy And The Snakepit will play hit after hit that will keep you ready for a brand new beat. Anne McCue is coming back to Django @ Camelot! Born in Sydney and raised just southwest in Campbelltown, McCue has toured the world playing her music in Concert Halls, pubs and festivals.

Billboard heralded her as the “virtual definition of ‘triple threat.’ A potent singer, thoughtful songwriter and tough guitarist.” Her albums showcase her rocking sensibility and six-string virtuosity.

These days, she spends a great deal of time in Nashville, honing her distinctive hybrid style of grassroots rock, blues, and folk. Americana icon Lucinda Williams has said of McCue: “Initially, her stunning voice hooked me in. Then I got inside the songs. The first chance I got, I went to see her perform . . . I was floored!”

Together, these playful musicians explore a vibrant, surreal, and relentlessly hilarious landscape peopled by vampires, pimps, and other secret beasts of the middle-class male psyche. Brother and sister duo The Hamiltons, are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Born to a musician father and a French mother, the pair grew up in Sydney Australia on tour with their fathers folk band before relocating to the UK with a one way ticket in 2015. This international pair travel the world performing their unique blend of jazz, pop, blues and cajun music to astounded audiences, impressed with their musicality as they both effortlessly glide from piano, drums, bass, accordion and vocals.

Sister Emma’s jazzy smooth vocals passionately evoke another era with her authentic interpretation of Edith Piaf to Charles Trenet classics which can only be mastered by a native speaker. Brother Tom is a piano virtuoso whose self taught approach is like no other. Together, they have released albums on ABC/Universal which Van Dyke Parks (The Beach Boys) claimed to be “a total triumph on so many levels”. Based in London, The Hamiltons have sold out their shows across the country, and have a residency in the West End which sees them perform most nights of the week.

“Something of a renaissance woman… Somehow she achieves the almost impossible in blending patterned western-ed pop writing with the earthy mystique of African rhythms and freaky world instruments.” – Sydney City News

This Sydney based singer songwriter is known not only for her unmistakable voice and songwriting, but for playing the 21 string West African harp, known as the kora. Miriam draws her influences from far and wide – having most notably spent long periods of time studying traditional music in West Africa.

Her songs seamlessly blend African influences with folk infused melodies. In essence, they are a collection of stories, beautifully told through strings, powerful lyrics and her emotive voice. Playing kora as well as acoustic guitar, Miriam is joined by exceptional string players – violinist Lara Goodridge (FourPlay/ Baby et Lulu) and Susie Bishop. Adding their sublime strings and lush vocal harmonies, there is a chemistry between these musicians and their instruments that melds into a soaring beautiful soundscape.

THE SPOOKY MEN’S CHORALE: A VERY SPOOKY CHRISTMAS
Dec 19 all-day

Spooky-Men-2017a (1)7pm doors, 8pm show

Over two massive nights, Spooky Men’s Chorale come back to Camelot for A Very Spooky Christmas!!!

Everybody’s favourite choir – in fact hands down the most entertaining choir Australia has ever seen! Hilarious, moving, a truly incredible experience!

All around Australia, excitement is mounting: society women are slightly breathless, small children and dogs are yapping at nothing, and real estate salesmen are vaguely anxious. Supplies of grandiose hatwear, beard grooming equipment and pigfat are running low.

The Spookies’ sound – warm and grainy as a slab of teak – and their humorous style – deadpan, sly, and always unexpected – find new and wonderful avenues of expression on “The Spooky Man in History”.

“This is surely the best a capella act in the land” John Shand, SMH

“While superficially a comedy act, the Spooky Men are also fine close harmony singers, their tuning, timing and dynamics impeccable.” The Independent (London)

NEW YEARS EVE MOTOWN PARTY with SUZY & THE SNAKEPIT @ DJANGO
Dec 31 all-day

suzie snakepit motown8pm doors

Suzy And the Snakepit pay tribute to the Motown tunes that everywhere, around the world, get people dancing in the street in what will be one of the best New Years Eve Parties in town!

Bring your dancing shoes!
