Session 2: 8:30pm – 10:30pm | Show 9:00pm (60-70 min)

Bob Evans, the ARIA winning alter ego of Jebediah frontman Kevin Mitchell, has graced the Australian music scene for more than two decades and has written some of the country’s most beloved songs.

Under the alias of Bob Evans, Mitchell has released five studio albums, all of which showcase the versatility and skill of this talented songsmith. Gentle, acoustic melodies prevail, enveloping the classic folk storytelling and strong emotional pull that characterises Mitchells’ substantial body of work.

The ‘Tomorrowland’ national tour is in celebration of Bob Evans’ sixth studio album of the same name. Tomorrowland was spawned during one of the worst times for anyone, anywhere: the covid-cursed 2020, a period when initial recording was completed one day after all his gigs were cancelled, and two weeks before Kevin and everyone else in Victoria went into an agonisingly long lockdown. But the result is euphoric, sparkling – a luminescent rock record from an unstoppable songsmith.

Bukhu

6pm – 8:00pm | Show 6:30pm (60-70 mins)

Bukhu returns to Camelot!

Bukhu Ganburged is a master student of the Music and Dance Conservatory of Ulaanbaatar. Performing the folk musics of Mongolia, and exploring the aural dimensions of sounds generated by traditional instruments and harmonic overtone vocal techniques.

A cultural ambassador of his country. Bukhu combines virtuosic Morin Khuur (Horse Head Fiddle) and Khuumii (Harmonic Overtone Throat Singing) skills to transmit the harmony of Mongolian nomads and Shamanic culture through time and space.

Bukhu’s music brings a contemporary take on the tradition of Mongolian bards of the middle ages and those of ancient times, acting as a national memory bank by working mythologies, historic figures and events into traditional verse form.

Bukhu’s recent live performances explore experimental and electroacoustic sound palettes — using loops and edits created on pedals, portable devices, samplers, synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines.

BENEFIT NIGHT FOR VLAD KHUSID
Aug 8 all-day

6pm doors, 6:30pm show

Vladimir Khusid is one of Sydney’s most loved musicians – and for more than 20 years his incredible trumpet playing has been an integral part of Marsala and Monsieur Camembert. He is a legendary figure and indeed an absolute institution in the world music/Russian/Jewish/Gypsy music scenes. He has also inspired generations of Sydney finest musicians as their teacher at Sydney Grammar, even touring the school’s big band to Monterey Jazz Festival!

We are all incredibly saddened and distressed to learn that Vlad has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Suffice to say, the prognosis is extremely bleak. We need to do everything we can to help Vlad and his family during this profoundly difficult time.

So on Sun 4th July, we will all be getting together at Camelot to celebrate his incredible life and career, and raising as much funds as we possible can.

Members of Marsala and Monsieur Camembert will be playing along with all sorts of other wonderful musicians – so beyond the incredible gravity of the occasion, it will be a most uplifting evening of music.

We look forward to your support of this very special night.

Renowned acoustic guitar slinger Lloyd Spiegel is delighted to announce his return to Camelot Lounge!

Of course, like everyone else, Spiegel has been in virtual hibernation for the last year or so and is keen to hit the bandstand with a renewed energy, fire in his belly, and fronting his new trio.

Featuring trombonist extraordinaire Lisa Baird and long-time collaborator Tim Burnham on drums, the trio allows Spiegel a little bit of extra scope to bring the flavours of his albums to life in concert. The grooves are deeper, New Orleans is in the house, and the joint will be rocking. Since it seems we’re all allowed to dance now, we should take every opportunity to do so.

Lloyd will be playing tracks from 2019’s multiple award-winning album Cut and Run, along with back catalogue and blues classics.

Dave Mason is a singular artist in the Australian music pantheon. Uncompromising, brilliant, and always cool. He penned APRA’s #10 Australian song of all time, Quasimodo’s Dream, and spear-headed THE REELS into the consciousness of music fans around the world since the late‘70s.

Dave’s gift for melody and lyric imagery are the toast of his generation, and the envy of contemporary artists. His songs are as vital as the day they were written and his voice richer and more keening for the benefit of the passing years.

Karma County front man Brendan Gallagher, producer of over forty albums in as many years, including Jimmy Little’s instant classic Messenger, joins Dave on acoustic guitar. Good music lasts forever.
